A Daughter's Legacy
Alumna Gives Back to the University Her Family Loves
As a child, Jamie Phillippe ’73 was already a member of the Butler family. Her father, the late James R. Phillippe, was on the Butler faculty and chaired the radio and television department. His passion for the students and love for Butler afforded Jamie endless opportunities to be on campus, and she admits that she was "enthralled by the college kids." Today, when former students realize that her dad was their professor, she's reminded of the legacy he left at Butler and in the communication field.
Today Jamie's own successful 30-year career can be attributed to the lessons learned at Butler. It is, she states, "a place big enough for many options but small enough to become a leader." A professional fundraiser, she knows the importance of annual support but understands that planned giving will ensure that those options and opportunities that she had while at Butler will be available for future Butler students.
For that reason, Butler is included in her estate gift—the only charity she has designated.
Jamie knows that people give for emotional reasons, and she has followed suit since her heart is with Butler. Through her planned gift, she has established her own legacy—celebrating the Phillippe history and giving forward to the next generation of Butler Bulldogs.
